IRELAND ANGLING SHOW 2014 REVIEW
The Ireland Angling Show 2014, inspite of severe inclement weather on the run up to the show, saw record numbers of exhibitors and visitors to the show. Without a doubt the participation and love of fishing is very much alive in Ireland.
All aspects of angling are covered at this event, Game, Sea, Coarse with a particular emphasis on getting kids started ,The Dublin Angling Initiative, spent the weekend working with kids on all aspects of fishing from bait, rig building, how to cast be it fly casting or fishing off the shore or boat. A constant flow of prizes was given out throughout the weekend including private fly casting lessons with Paddy McDonnell, Kids waders, and numerous quality tackle items from Daiwa and many others.
Many Celebrity Anglers worked over the weekend sharimg advice and knowledge and on hand to give free casting tuition. Henry Gilbey having missed the first day due to the weather and cancelled flights, made up for it by demonstrating , presenting and chatting to visitors all day Sunday, Hywel Morgan and his talented family demonstrated flycasting and how to get kids to cast properly as well as performing his role as MC for the event.
World Pairs champions Cathal Hughes and Philip “ Jacko” Jackson not only shared their knowledge of Match fishing but also ran a very successful “ pole cupping comp" for youngsters interested in Coarse fishing.
Leading names in the industry were well represented showcasing innovation and new tackle technology Daiwa, Sonik, Loop, Hardys, Grey and for the first time in Ireland with a vast array of Lures all the way from China ,Jerry Fishing Tackle.
Kids competitions, Cookery demonstrations, talks/ films on Fly fishing , shark encounters, fly tying, the provided something of interest for everyone who visited the event.
Top illusionist and Mind Hacker Keith Barry and his Dad came down to the show and spent the day having casting instruction with Champion Glenda Powell, shopping and chatting with fellow anglers....A great weekend had by all.

The Ireland Angling show, has grown over the last 15 years to become the Country’s Premier Angling event and is a firm fixture on the calenders of anglers through out the Country.
Mara Media have developed the show to bring together all aspects of Angling, Sea, Coarse, Game under one roof , where visitors have the opportunity to meet angling celebrities and experts from all over Ireland ,the Uk and who are on hand to share expertise , advice and tuition. Information, education and entertainment is a important feature of this event , the shows theartre/seminar area hosts wide selection of interesting talks over the weekend, something there for everyone.
